Humans have always had a fascination for representing the world around them and one of the most recurring themes throughout history is landscapes. The word landscape originates from the dutch word “landschap” and was made known by the Netherlanders painters who used it in reference to the paintings of natural scenes they made during the sixteenth century. The role of landscapes in painting and the way humans have interacted with it has been evolving with time and on the present day we have developed our ability to simulate and manipulate the landscape to an extent that sometimes we invest more time interacting with virtual landscapes rather having the experience outdoors.

This is a compilation of forgotten videos on my Camera Roll, mostly composed of exhibitions that virtually project nature by creating new realities intertwined with an animation I did in which I mapped all the ravines in Guatemala City, then pixelated the result and animated it to simulate the movement of waves.

Are virtual landscapes real? What is reality? Are we disconnected from nature or are we more connected than ever? This video intends to blur de difference between realities.

All of the footage is credited at the end.
